  Notes	Iris learnt piano at 19 or 20 when living at hawthorn (until she met Harry). Met with girl friends for needlepoint. Mr Thompson and Mr Simmonds taught dancing privately and had a stage show at christmas. Miss Miller taught ballroom dancing at school. =============== 1923 born 1929 started school ringwood 1930 Grade 2 1931 Grade 3 1932 Grade 4 went to redcliffs 1933 Grade 5 1934 Grade 6 1935 Grade 7 1936 Grade 8 left school at 14 at Redcliffs worked sorting and packing fruit worked at Habbidashery for a few weeks worked at Deli 1939 moved to hawthorn 1940ish made aprons at hawthorn (German people) got measels and left apron place made artificial flowers at (Paul and Richard) Harbigs. 1941 war came and harbigs became a munitions factory - iris left and they brought their own staff in. machine operator making armitures (inc soldering lugs on the wires) 1945 harbigs (and iris ) started making flowers again 1947 got married and lived at burwood rd hawthorn for about 3 months 1947 ross street surrey hills 6 months 1947 worked at Mr Buttlers deli shop (Glanferrie rd) as a serving girl 1948ish bought land at Blackburn, moved in before it was finnished Blackburn lolly shop - worked serving and looking after at the shop on weekends
